Why Some People Are Just Plain Lucky

happygamblersScientific Studies Reveal The Lucky Principles of a Charmed Life

Introduction
Philosophers, scientists and gamblers alike have pondered the mysteries of lady luck right from the start of time. Putting best of luck charms and superstition aside, it’s largely accepted that a lucky day is just a matter of random events. It’s something which just happens. If you happen to be in the best place at the best time, it’s your lucky day, right? Still, you’ve realized that some people have lives that are more charmed than others. Why would that be? Is luck just fate, or could you change it for the better – or the worse? And more importantly, if your luck in life can be changed, can your gambling luck be changed as well?

To discover why some folks are luckier than others, Professor Robert Wiseman of the University of Hetfordshire , conducted a scientific study of lucky and unlucky people, “The Psychology of Luck “. The details of his groundbreaking research were published in his book, The Luck Factor. The book basically reveals four personality traits or principles that lucky people have that influence the fortuitous events in their lives. And for gamblers, many of those fortuitous events will happen in a casino. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that these principles are too general to overcome the odds against winning at your favorite casino game. Just take the time and consider these principles carefully. Think about how you might have the ability to apply them to boost your luck as a gambler.

The Four Principles of a Living a Lucky Life

First Principle:
Maximize The Chance for Opportunities “Lucky folks are skilled at creating, noticing and acting upon chance opportunities. They try this in several ways, including networking, adopting a peaceful attitude alive and by being available to new experiences.”

As it applies to gambling, the more hands you can play, the more pulls on a slot machine, or keno races the more likely you are to win. That’s why certain gambling systems that only increase playing time really can make a difference.

Second Principle:
Trust Your Intuition “Lucky people make effective decisions by listening with their intuition and gut feelings. Additionally, they take steps to actively boost their intuitive abilities by, for example, meditating and clearing their mind of other thoughts.”

Your intuition can play a good part with regards to how lucky you’ll be in the casino. And in order for intuition to guide you in the correct direction you need to be able to clear your mind of distractions. When you walk into the casino, clear your mind of the worries of your life. Breathe deep and relax as you begin to play your favorite game. And be ready to listen for your intuitive ‘guide’.

”Third Principle:
The Power of Expectation “Lucky folks are sure the future will be full of good fortune. These expectations become self-fulfilling prophecies by helping lucky people persist in the face of failure, and shape their interactions with others in a positive way.”

There’s only two outcomes that are possible in a casino. Winning and losing (breaking even is winning). So you can decide what to expect when you begin. Wouldn’t you rather expect to win, rather than lose? Expectations when gambling influences your overall attitude. As long as you’re there you might as well feel like you’re going to be a winner.

Fourth Principle:
Make Good Luck out of Misfortune “Lucky people employ various psychological techniques to deal with, and often even thrive upon, the ill fortune that comes their way. For example, they spontaneously imagine how things might have been worse, do not dwell on ill fortune, and assume control of the situation.”

We all experiences losing streaks in the casino. The next time you do, fight off the temptation to think that you’re sinking. Instead, remember why you’re there and imagine a reversal of fortune is about to occur. If you have a sustainable bankroll, you will be amazed at well simply ‘changing your mind’ will work in your favor.

It so happened that another man, Max Gunther, also published a guide using the same title (Gunther: The Luck Factor). It includes lots of the same principles noted above along with others. Some people think that Gunther’s book is a better read than Wiseman’s but I’m certainly not recommending either one. I only mention Gunther’s book since it adds at the very least one additional principle worth noting. He calls it’The Spider Web Structure ‘. That’s a fancy term for networking.

How can you apply the principles of lucky individuals to your casino gambling? Can it be even possible to possess control over your luck in a casino? Isn’t it strictly a matter of the odds? I assure you that these and other principles – some obviously practical and others rather mysterious – can be applied to make you a luckier person. You may be surprised at how the activities in a casino parallel those in life. You can find principles to be found that will allow you to be luckier on and off the casino floor. Study on those which are listed above and search for more on your next visit to Gunther’s The Luck Factor”>TheMysticGambler.com.
